HintScape's Ventrilo Server

Ventrilo is a surround sound voice chat program perfect for RuneScapers to get together and go pking, skilling, questing or simply have a good old chat!

Select the program most suitable for your computers operating system from the list below, this will start a download of the program. Once you have the program installed on your pc simply follow the instructions below to get voice chatting with other RuneScape players.

Connect to HintScape's Ventrilo Server
Connecting is simple, begin by opening the program, you should see the below screen. if you can your doing brilliantly so far! click the top right hand little arrow.



Now you have to choose the name you want to be known as in voice chat, simply click new and enter the name you would like in the small screen that opens then click ok to close the small screen and ok again on the Setup User screen to confirm your name.



You will now be back on the Ventrilo home screen, now you need to click the second small arrow on the right next to server.



You will now be on the Connection Editor screen, hit the new button to proceed t the next screen.



Next you need to name the server you want to connect to, you can use HintScape. Hit ok to continue.



Now you need enter HintScapeventrilo.co.uk in to the "Hostname or IP" box and 3784 in to the "Port Number" box and click ok.



After clicking ok you will again be bought back to the Ventrilo home screen, you should see the text "MSG: Server Is Available. Press Connect." in the large white box, if you can your done and ready to chat! don't forget to have your headset plugged in before connecting. You can also use a microphone and your PC's speakers if you don't have a headset. Now your set to go click Connect.



Once connected you will be taken to the HintScape Lobby, this is a silent room where people who are not at their PC's can go and newly connected people are placed, from here simply double click a room you want to chat in and away you go. Don't forget you need to hold down your keyboards left hand "Ctrl" key for other chatters to hear you speak!

Q: What is Ventrilo?
A: Ventrilo is a voice-chat program. It has many voice chat-rooms available to you once you connect to our server.

Q: How do I get Ventrilo?
A: You can download it from the links at the top of this page or from http://www.ventrilo.com.

Q: Do I need a mic or headset?
A: Yes. It's all voice-chat. Most people use a headset, much easier than a mic+speakers but they do work too.

Q: What good is this? Why can't I just use MSN or RuneScape's chat window?
A: Suppose you're going PKing with your friends, or you've got a clan war. Fast communication is very important. You don't have time to switch between MSN - or even move your hands off the mouse to type in Runescape chat. Keep your mouse in your hand, and use a headset to voice-chat with your clan.

Q: Do I have to be PKing or Clanning to use this?
A: Nope, just come on and have a chat. There are lots of 'sections' for everything, even questing and partying.

Q: What is the maximum user capacity?
A: Right now, it's 100 people. But if we find we need more we'll increase the capacity as needed.

Q: We're having a clan war, will other people disturb us?
A: There are lots of rooms you can join for that sort of thing, for example PK'ing room 1, 2 or 3.
